FAQs

Your questions, answered – how Vescent works, who it’s for, and how we support teen girls.

What is Vescent?
Vescent is a digital mentoring and skill-building platform that supports teen girls’ confidence, mental wellbeing, and personal growth. Designed as a safe, positive alternative to traditional social media, Vescent connects girls with trained college-aged mentors, supportive peer groups, and evidence-based resilience content that helps them build confidence, strengthen relationships, and develop essential life skills. Grounded in real relationships and proven mental health literacy, Vescent creates a supportive digital space where girls build the confidence and resilience they need to lead with strength.
Why Vescent?
Teen girls are facing a growing mental health crisis marked by rising anxiety, loneliness, and disconnection. While social media and AI-driven tools promise connection, they often deepen comparison and isolation. A 2025 Pew Research study found that 45% of teens say they spend too much time on social media, with teen girls significantly more likely than boys to report negative mental health impacts. At the same time, one-third of teens turn to social media for mental health information – revealing a critical gap in safe, trusted support.

Vescent was created to meet this moment with a fundamentally different model centered on real human connection. We pair teen girls with trained college-aged mentors, supportive peer groups, and evidence-based resiliency tools that build confidence, emotional strength, and belonging. This is more than an app – it’s a technology-powered movement designed to help girls rise above comparison culture and grow into confident, resilient young women.

Who is Vescent for?
Vescent is for teen girls ages 13+ who are navigating the social, emotional, and academic pressures of adolescence and would benefit from positive guidance and support from a trusted adult outside of family and school. It’s especially helpful for girls who struggle with confidence, comparison, or feeling disconnected. Vescent offers a safe, healthy online environment where girls build resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of self through meaningful one-to-one relationships with trained female mentors – providing real human connection in a positive, uplifting space.
Is the information my teen shares in Vescent confidential?
Yes. Protecting your teen’s privacy and safety is a top priority at Vescent. We do not share teens’ personal data, and we use clear, plain language in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service so families understand exactly how information is protected. Vescent complies with all U.S. privacy and data-collection regulations and goes a step further by undergoing child-rights assessments to ensure our policies and practices meet the highest standards. Information shared within the Vescent app is kept confidential, with a few important safety-related exceptions designed to protect teens’ wellbeing.
Can parents/caregivers use Vescent?

Vescent is designed as a teen-only space so girls can feel comfortable, independent, and supported as they build confidence and relationships. We know, however, how important parents and caregivers are in this journey. While parents don’t participate directly in the app, we offer dedicated resources just for you found on our Parents page – check out our blog and sign up to receive our monthly newsletter to stay informed!

How does coaching work?
Each teen is paired with a trained, college-aged female mentor based on shared interests, using information from our teen and coach matching forms. Mentors engage with their teens by sharing short videos, interactive activities, and evidence-based content focused on mental wellness, resilience, and practical skills for managing stress, emotions, and social pressures. They also lead regular one-on-one check-ins and small group activities, fostering open dialogue and providing consistent encouragement in a safe, supportive, and positive space.
What if my teen has an emergency?

Vescent is not an emergency service. If your teen is in immediate danger, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. All Vescent coaches follow a clear safety protocol and local mental health resources are always available; contact us at hello@vescent.co for more details on our escalation process.
